Goodbye, Woodlands, I barely knew thee. Lots of people (well, a few) are buzzing about the fact that the Woodlands race track will be closing soon. This isn't surprising to me. In the two times I've been out there, the place was pretty empty, and the few people that were there were laying a few $2 bets. I'm not really sure how they were able to sustain the place for so long. Either it was the OTB business, or maybe the dogs' salaries aren't very high.

I'm not really sure if expanding gaming would have helped out too much. If slot machines and such were allowed to grow in Wyandotte county, I'd think that large gambling operations would overwhelm any interest anyone had in heading to the Woodlands.

So, now what's to be done with that place? I vote for motor racing of some kind. That's a pretty good facility, and I'd love to see sprint cars, midgets, karts, and bikes raced there. Though I am positive that that would never happen, it would be a blast.
