Bell Ringers Pub & Grub opened up in May 2009 in the space formerly occupied by Smokin' Joe's BBQ. Fortunately, on their way out, Joe added on a bit to the building and added a huge rooftop deck. That means that Bell Ringers is set up pretty with plenty of space and a fantastic rooftop just in time for summer. They also have a large indoor space with two bars and a small "VIP" section.
While it is vaguely themed as a boxing sports bar, the bar is not completely covered in huge TVs like so many sports bars these days. They do feature some boxing related activities, like hosting the weigh-ins for some local fights. I'll be curious how a boxing place is received around here. It sounds like Bell Ringers is also reaching out a bit to the biker crowd, so this will probably be a fun place to keep an eye on all summer.
Their menu consists pretty much of the expected bar food. They have some wraps and such if you're not into the standard fried fare that so many bars stick to, though. I have tested out their burgers and can confirm that they're great. The fries are like thick, fried potato chips, which is pretty rare around town. I liked them quite a bit, and would encourage anyone to try them out.
Between the large garage doors and the rooftop deck, I expect this to be a pretty good place to hang out on First Fridays and on most other nights throughout the summer.
