I'm not sure that Kansas City needs more condos, but I was excited to hear about the plans for the old Brandsmart building on Gregory, just East of Wornall. Apparently, the plan is for "restaurant, a coffee shop, at least six retail shops, and two floors of condos with 12 units." That seems like a pretty good place to have your condo. At least you can walk to some stuff nearby, like The Gaf for a beer.
