Gary Lezak says it may hit 60 degrees tomorrow. In other news, Christmas has been cancelled and we're going to celebrate Independence Day instead next week.

I dig the Crime Scene KC blog and read most of the stories that area actually local just about every day. Today, there's an interesting item about the Johnson County, Kansas Sheriff running stings for people who buy booze for underage people. I always thought "shoulder tapping" was a pretty crummy way to score booze in my formative years. But what stuns me more is that people will actually do it. I've been approached a couple times to do it, and have always refused. I just didn't see the upside to committing a crime just to let some kids that I don't know score a few wine coolers for Friday night.

Today in Kansas City

  • Local author Frank R. Hayde discusses his new book "The Mafia and the Machine: The Story of the Kansas City Mob" at the Corinth Branch of the Johnson County Library. Thanks, Pitch!
