I guess I'm getting old and curmudgeonly, but when I read the article in yesterday's Star about the number of catalogs that people get and how to reduce them, I got pretty excited. I received a new phone book yesterday, and few things irritate me as much as when the new phone books are dropped on my doorstep. I haven't used or wanted a phone book in years, yet I can't figure out how to stop them. If anyone else dropped that amount of useless crap on peoples' doorsteps, they'd be arrested for littering or illegal dumping or something, yet AT&T or swbyps or whatever can get away with it. The people responsible for that stuff should be put on some kind of government list or something where they're subjected to humiliating indecencies like having to take off their shoes to get on an airplane.

Update: I figured out what to do with them. The phone book ad salesmen office is right downstairs from me, so I just chucked mine off the elevator onto their floor. I feel like Cosmo Kramer with his Pottery Barn catalogs.
