Started in 2008, the Kansas City Sky Show has become one of the larger fireworks shows in Kansas City. This event has replaced the traditional fireworks show that The K used to host after a game around Independence Day.

From the 2008 press release:

"The Kansas City Sky Show will pay tribute to the people, history and heritage of Kansas City. At approximately five times the length of a traditional Fireworks Friday spectacular that Royals fans enjoy throughout the season, the Kansas City Sky Show will integrate new effects never seen before at Kauffman Stadium, including utilization of the traditional firework zone, on-field special effects, the iconic Kauffman Stadium fountains and the world’s largest HD videoboard. Don’t miss the largest Fireworks display in the history of Kansas City!"
