From TheKCGuy
Weeks like this are some of my favorite of the year. Not only do I only have to work three days, but the excitement over the coming holiday weekend builds through the week. It's hard, though, to get excited about the winter holidays when it's 65 degrees outside. Fortunately, it looks like it will start cooling off and by Wednesday we may even get a taste of that winter mix that we know and love. I may even flip over to 102.1 to listen to some of the Christmas music that they've been playing ever since July.
I heard that Kansas City ranks well on the list of most dangerous cities. I understand that this is a measure of crime, but in the light of recent events, I can't help thinking that Kansas City must be one of the most dangerous cities for pedestrians. There have been a couple pedestrian fatalities in midtown in the last week, I think two on 435, and from what I understand, you can't ride your bike to the corner without getting mowed down. I'm not sure if I'd rather hear about all of those or tolerate another one of those summers where every local news station participates in the annual murder count contest. Be safe out there this week, folks. Assume that everyone is driving drunk; most people will be.
Looking Ahead This Week
- Tonight and Tomorrow night are the CBE Classic from the College Basketball Experience downtown.
- Thursday is Thanksgiving. Whether you're eating out or cooking the family meal, I'll help you find something good in town. Don't forget the Plaza Lights.
- Friday is Black Friday, one of my favorite days of the year. I'll try to help you spot those doorbusters that you can't live without.
- Then, over the weekend we get that football game that everyone's been going nuts over. It's just going to get worse. With KU undefeated and MU probably ranked #3 at 10-1, the mood getting ready for the game at Arrowhead will be frenzied.
Today's Events
- T.R. Reid speaks to The International Relations Council at 6:30 at Lathrop & Gage 22nd Floor 2345 Grand Blvd.
