I recently stopped by the Dynamic Earth store near 135th and Metcalf in Overland Park. It's the second location for a business that started in Springfield, MO. Their collection of outdoor gear including backpacks, sleeping bags, climbing gear, and of course fleece clothing was impressive. It reminds me of the old Tam-Sauk store on the Plaza or maybe the way that Backwoods on Broadway used to be. It's worth a trip over there to check it Dynamic Earth. In fact, if I were still as into the outdoors as I used to be, I'd probably just start cashing my paycheck there.

This is what I got to look at while I was not getting my money out

Speaking of paychecks, I broke the ATM. It's a really cool, new ATM that lets you put in checks without an envelope and it shows you pictures of it and puts pictures on your receipt. It doesn't make them worth any more, but it shows you pictures of them. Anyway, I was just trying to get some money out of it, not depositing any checks or anything complex. I asked for $200 cash. It made a bluescreen, told me it was going to reboot, rebooted, showed me the "Welcome to Windows XP" screen, and then showed me the thing you see in the image. I had to call the bank later to get my $200 back that it had erroneously debited from my account and not given me. At least they gave it back.

In other news, the frenzy over the KU vs MU game at Arrowhead continues. The one new detail that I just learned is that since they're broadcasting ESPN's "College GameDay," from Arrowhead at 9am, they'll open the parking lot at 7am. Then, after the broadcast, they'll clear the lot and not let people back in until 3pm for the 7pm kickoff. Assuming anyone shows up for the early morning broadcast, where do you think they'll go for 4 hours? I'm betting on a brisk lunch crowd for all of the surrounding businesses. Oh, wait. There's hardly anything around there. I guess LC's BBQ will just be packed, then. Maybe the two hotels across I-70 will host a parking lot party or something. I'm betting on a good sized collection of drunk drivers, though.
