When the weather starts getting colder and the holidays are approaching, I seem to find myself on the Plaza a lot more often. Perhaps it's because of the shopping or the Plaza Lights or something; I'm not sure. If you find yourself down there this weekend, you may want to stop into Jack Stack Barbecue. Their Plaza location is the newest addition to the collection of Jack Stack locations, and it's really great food. If you can get past the oversized menus that seem to be too large for the tables, you're sure to find something finger-licking good. I recommend the "Poor Russ" burnt-ends sandwich. For my money, I think it beats Gates burnt-ends, and that's saying a lot!
After dinner, if you decide to take in a movie, "Dan in Real Life" may be a good choice. It's not Steve Carell's funniest, but it has its moments. It's only PG-13, so don't worry about it being as wild as "40 Year Old Virgin."
Events
- If you're out and about in the afternoon, head over to the zoo for the Great Pumpkin Smash. Animals love smashing pumpkins almost as much as the neighborhood kids hopped up on Snickers bars.
- Don't forget to "fall back" for Daylight Savings Time tonight. At 2AM, set your clock back an hour.
- Bill Moyers is speaking tonight at 6:30 at the Truman Library and Museum. It looks like it's now sold out.
- Help plant some Tulips on Troost
