I finally made it over to the new Smoothie King that I spotted way back when. I picked up a smoothie for breakfast, and it was delicious. The thumping Jamaican music in there made me wonder a bit what exactly I would be getting in my smoothie, but I trusted the recommendation of the smoothie expert and am glad I did. I'm not sure I can make a regular thing out of Smoothie King, especially in the winter, but until we get a Jamba Juice in Kansas City, I can see myself stopping over pretty regularly. It's at 8825 W 88th Street, at the corner of State Line.

In a recent article about the Taum Sauk reservoir case by my old buddy, Christopher Leonard, I notice that part of the settlement by Ameren is "to pay the Missouri Department of Natural Resources $18 million to extend the Katy Trail along 46 miles of the company's Rock Island Railroad." I think that is the part that's supposed to bring it to Pleasant Hill, which is pretty close to town. I think that' s a great addition to the Katy Trail, and I'm excited to see it improved. Update: Oh. I now see that it was on the front page of the Star.

According to a press release yesterday, "the City of Kansas City, Mo., has partnered with the City of Seattle, the U.S. Green Building Council and more than 20 other organizations to create the "Green Playbook," a web-based resource outlining environmentally-friendly practices for local governments." I believe this is a continuation of work that the city council has done with greenplaybook.org.

  • We survived Cyber Monday and Light Rail Armageddon
  • Deer season opened and scalping became legal

Weekend Activities

  • It sounds like it's supposed to be a pretty crummy evening tonight. I guess it will be warmer tomorrow, but probably still raining or whatever. Maybe Sunday will be tolerable. Sounds like a good weekend for eating chili by the fire.
  • Disney's High School Musical will be at the Sprint Center this weekend.
