People Will Eat Anything
I had a HUGE bag of candy left over from Halloween. Not the good kind of candy, like little Hershey bars or something, but weirdo candy like Nerds and Starburst. Stuff that people over the age of 14 shouldn't eat. I brought it into work in order to get rid of it without going over my trash limits and left it in the break room at the office. I don't work with that many people, but within an hour and half, the whole bag was nearly gone. Seriously, that must be like 5 pieces of candy per employee! Who can tolerate that level of sugar intake?
I strongly suspect that HR will announce some kind of change to our health insurance or dental plan policy as a result of this.
In other news, I nearly wrecked my car yesterday when I noticed a new d'Bronx popping up at 105th and Metcalf. I stopped in to check on it, and they were having some kind of pre-opening event in there. The person at the door said they'd be open for real business on November 14, 2007. I can't wait to head over there next Wednesday over lunch and get one of their super slices of pizza, just as though I were in Westport!
News:
- Construction crews will reopen the westbound I-435 to southbound U.S. 69 ramp by late afternoon
- The weekend forecast is supposed to be excellent! Looks like Sunday may hit 70 for the Chiefs game.
Events:
- McFadden's is scheduled to open in the Power and Light District. More information ad the McFaddens website and in an article in the Star this morning. I'm sure you'll see Tony of Tony's Kansas City down there. He's a really big fan.
- Garth Brooks is playing at the Sprint Center. Again. That should make it tough to park at McFadden's, I guess.
- Kansas City Ballet Free Legacy Performance
- AMC's Horrorfest 2007 starts tonight
- Free Kansas City Symphony String Orchestra Concert. 7 p.m. at the Nelson-Atkins Museum. Call (816) 751-1278 for free tickets.
- The Extreme Home Makeover Hype Machine will unveil the new house tomorrow around noon.
- It's Veterens' Day weekend, so there are a lot of Veteran events around town. Stop by the Liberty Memorial for a whole sleq of them.
