It had been a while since I was in RJ's Bob-Be-Que Shack over in Mission, KS. I slipped in there to carry out some lunch the other day and it was yummy. They have a lunch special on a little sandwich, some fries, and a coke for about $6. It's a good deal, especially if you keep in mind that BBQ places always overfeed you, and a little sandwich is actually a normal person's sandwich.

I got a pulled pork sandwich this time, and it was quite good pork. Their sauce has enough spice in it to notice if you opt for the "hot" stuff. I thought that last time they had crinkly fries, but this time they were straight cut and had just the right amount of spice and crispiness. In fact, the seasoning reminded me a bit of the fries over at Oklahoma Joe's, but the were a little fatter and not quite as seasoned. Actually, that might be better in some ways because I didn't end up completely parched after eating them.

Since I didn't eat in and got carry out, I didn't get to experience dining in. But, their helpful staff surely looks after you. I'm pretty sure this is one of those places where the owner is almost always on site, and no one looks after you better than the guy who owns the joint. If I can keep from forgetting about this place, I'm sure I'll get it on my regular lunch spot rotation. It's too good to pass up. Oh yeah, check out rjsbbq.com for photos, blues music, and of course a menu.
