I recently set out to spruce up a bathroom and ran into a bit of a problem. The tile in there had been painted, and it was starting to peel pretty badly. It was really hard to scrape off in the places where it wasn't peeling, though. I wasn't looking to scraping, sanding, and then repainting the tile, and I wasn't sure about painting over it either. I know that paint won't adhere to that ceramic tile very well, especially where water hit it a lot. Since I'm an unabashed cheapskate, I didn't really want to spring for a new tile bathroom.

I found an outfit called NuLook out of Stillwell that will refinish tile. For a completely reasonable price, they came out and refinished the tile so that it looks almost new. Not only was I impressed with the workmanship, but I was also impressed with their service. The job didn't take long, and they came back out a week or so later to do a few touch-ups and make sure I was satisfied with the job. They offered; I didn't have to ask. Since I'm happy with the job that they did, I thought I'd pass along the tip to you. If you need someone to refinish some bathroom tile, or even kitchen surfaces, I recommend you give NuLook a call. And, don't forget to let them know where you heard of them.

In other news, alert reader David Remley (and the KC Beer Blog) have pointed out that Bar Natasha is closing. The article mentions a recent decline in business, so I'm adding it to the Power and Light Death Watch.
