Harry's Country Club Downtown near the River Market is a great spot for beers and guy food with your buddies. It has a little more cigar smoke than many people want, so it may not be a great idea for a date early on. They feature the widest collection of yard beers that I know of. (I don't mean beer by the yard in big glasses, but I mean the old-timey, cheap beers of yesteryear that you don't often see sold in bars these days. Think Pabst or Schlitz.)

I was impressed by the French Dip that they offer, but many people swear by their fried catfish.

DLC over at the Kansas City Lunch Spots blog has penned his own review of Harry's Country Club. He's not as hard on Harry's Country Club as he is on many places, so I guess that's a good sign.

Note: Don't confuse this place with Harry's in Westport!
