From TheKCGuy
I have heard of a few places around the country that serve dinner or have full-service bars in their movie theaters. It always sounded pretty interesting to me, and I wondered when we would get something like that here in the KC area. There are a few really good reasons why we should have something like that. We love movies here. Nowhere else in the country does it seem that people pack the theaters like we do here. We love food and drink. Look around at your oversized neighbors and coworkers to verify this. AMC theaters is based here. I don't know why this should matter, but it seems like it.
Anyway, it looks like we're finally going to get some of these Dinner and Movie joints. AMC is going to test one out at the Olathe AMC Studio 30. Since I'm certain it will be a smashing success, I guess you can count on them spreading around the metro area like wildfire.
In other news, Nick Sloan often has some interesting things to say on his site. But, I really had a hard time following a recent story of his since I was busy pondering just what in the heck is a semi-breaking news event?
And finally, I dig reading the Irish KC site. They mention that Flannigan's Right Hook isn't playing at 75th Street Brewery anymore, apparently due to low attendance. I think that's too bad since that was one of the few acts I enjoyed seeing at the brewery during my rare visits. But, as Irish KC mentions, I can't complain too much, since I'm not a regular, or even frequent attendee. I'll tell you why, though, and it's not because of the music. It's because of my love-hate relationship with my neighborhood brewery. It's the bar and restaurant I'd love to love, but as I've told you before, there's always just something a bit off with the place. I've started to come around to it again, recently, though. I've been by a few times to fill up a growler and have had a few pleasant experiences. Also, I have it on good authority that the French dip there is one of the best in the city. So, I may have to make another trip back to 75th Street and give it yet another try. As always, I'll keep you apprised of every excruciating detail.
