One unanticipated affect of the Kansas City smoking ban has been the number of places opening up patios, decks, and full blown outdoor dining facilities. For instance, Tower Tavern is apparently planning to build a deck on the back side of their building. I noticed that Barley's in Shawnee has a new little partially covered spot out front. And, perhaps the most surprising development is that Finn's Waldo Bar has been reborn as Hannibal's Waldo Bar, which includes a couple of attractive little umbrellas stashed in front of the garage door in the front. I'm not sure how I'm ever going to keep up on all of this in my Outdoor Dining Guide, but I pledge to try, one pint and sunburn at a time.
